Central Illinois Angels Announce Inaugural Board of Directors

The Central Illinois Angels investment group has elected its inaugural board of directors and chosen the following as officers:
• President – Chuck Weaver
• Vice President / Secretary – Dave Parkinson
• Treasurer – Janice Zagardo
• Investment Relations – Stan Lynall

In other news, on Thursday, October 22nd the Central Illinois Angels hosted a Power of Angel Investing seminar through the Angel Capital Education Foundation and the Kauffman Foundation. This seminar featured a recognized angel investor and a founder of the Angel Capital Association, Bill Payne. Mr. Payne spoke to members on a number of topics that relate to angel investing, including trends in angel and venture capital investing, how angel investing fits into the portfolio of an accredited investor, deal screening and sourcing, due diligence, deal structuring, valuation, and post-investment relations. Attendees said that the seminar provided them with an overview of the components necessary to be a more knowledgeable angel investor, and those that were able to attend came away from the day-long seminar armed with a number of very valuable resources as well.

The nearly 50 members of the investment group are looking to invest in new companies in the Peoria area and beyond. The group has already heard pitches from several companies looking for investment and will continue to review business plans on a regular basis.
